[Volcano_Vista_HS] Lady Hawks Soccer--5A State Champs!!!!

I was waiting to include an article about the game from the newspaper but due to the game ending late on Saturday night, there was no story...and no story this morning either so here is my take on the game...

I was one of MANY fans who sat through a very chilly evening to witness our school's FIRST 5A Championship in a team sport (our wrestlers were 4A champs before we were moved to 5A this year).

Your Volcano Vista Hawks Girls Soccer Team (seeded #3) faced a tenacious La Cueva team (seeded #4). The game was deadlocked 0-0 throughout regulation and through four 10 minute overtimes. Freshman Goalie, Hannah Fenske, had many saves throughout the night and had to protect the goal as the two teams went into the penalty kick (PKs) phase of the game.

Volcano Vista was perfect in their PKs, making all 5. La Cueva fell short when one of their PKs went over the goal :)

With only four seniors listed on the roster, our team could be formidable again next year! We would like to congratulate the girls and coaches for a fabulous season:
