While I'm generally slow to sing their praises, the Norton group is usually pretty quick to defend against new attacks. You can check their site, they typically offer removal tools on specific attacks for free.
Vigilance is the best answer. Don't click on links in email unless you're SURE it's valid, even from a known sender.
