For those watching the events in
As we’ve covered here before, by now you should have completed your property ‘defensive space’ clearing as REQUIRED by law (sec 4291 PRC). If there is no defensive space when the fire comes, the fire department won’t even stop, they’ll move on to the house(s) that have defensive space.
As shown in
It is also the time that your ‘git pack’ should be organized in the event you have to evacuate. It should include your essentials, including forms of identification (driver license, passport); medical prescriptions (spare glasses); cash (accepted anywhere); credit cards and pet care items (food). You might also consider any digital backups (hard drives, CD/DVD) so you can make prints later. You might also take the time to video what you have, then store that video in a safe place; the insurance companies will fight less.
Notify other family members who to contact (preferably out of state), should there be an evacuation. Let the remote person be the contact point to connect the dots as family members call in; you might NOT be in the same refugee center.
Consider now what you cannot survive without and get it ready. It should be fast and light that one person can carry as you may not have the time to gather anything else. Prepare, think survival; when it’s over you can rebuild. But only if you survive.
