I thought this might interest some of you about the events during and following on from the Boston Marathon.
Harvard's J. F. Kennedy School of Government (my alma mater) sponsored a forum the other day about the response to the Boston bombings. The panelists were excellent:
Julie Kayyem- Currently a Harvard professor, former undersecretary of Homeland Security, former Massachusetts Asst. Secretary of Public Safety. I have worked with her, a sharp lady.
Ed Davis - Boston PD Commissioner, most of you may have seen him on TV in the past week or so
Kurt Schwartz, - Current Mass. Undersecretary of Public Safety and head of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. I have worked with Kurt a lot, a good guy with good judgement (except for the nice things he said about me at my retirement ceremony, sounded like he was describing some else)
The Dean of Harvard Divinity School - Putting him on the panel puzzled me at first until I remembered he was born and brought up in Belfast and has some knowledge about the impact on society of terrorist bombings of innocent citizens.
The video runs an hour but might be of interest to those who serve in the military or emergency services and might find themselves responding to a terrorist event.
