The NHS Awards Ceremony and Induction will be held tonight in the PAC. If you purchased dinner tickets, you must have your ticket to be served. Dinner begins at 6 pm and the program will begin at about 6:45 pm in the Theater. If you did not purchase dinner tickets, go directly to the Theater at 6:45.

Best Buds will meet Friday during lunch.

Film Club meeting on Thursday.

Attention Faculty and Staff – our last 6 week challenge for staff and students will be kick ball the week of April 29 – May 3.  To participate in the challenge, please sign up at the activities office this week at lunch.  Kick ball teams must have 8-12 per team.  The cost to register your team is $5.  Meet on the soccer field on Monday, April 29 for seeding and games.

It is your chance to Join the school's nationally ranked show choir. Today (4/23), and tomorrow, Vocal Velocity will be holding a workshop from 3:00 to 4:00 in G173. In this workshop, you will learn the choreography required for the auditions that will be held on Thursday the 25th.  Also, please prepare a song that you will perform at your audition. Don't miss out on joining the most anticipated show choir in the state. Can't wait to see you there.

Hawkword moments, Volcano Vista's first Literary Magazine is complete! It is $10 and will be sold in Ms. Montoya's room (H219) for $10. Artists who were published get a free copy. A list of published artists will be posted outside of Ms. Montoya's room.

Seniors! Please plan ahead and order your final transcript to your college of choice.  If you do not send your final transcript your classes may be dropped for the fall semester at college. So don't wait request your transcript ASAP.  All final transcripts are one dollar and please write final on your request.  All request for transcripts and pick up are student only no parents are allowed to request or pick up final transcripts.  Any questions please see Mrs. Ewing in the main office.

Open Mic Night is Friday, April 26th. Because of its popularity, Wright Club is having a special pre-sale for 100 tickets. In addition to getting a VIP customized Wright Club ticket, you will also get a free snack at the show, and you will be able to go to the front of the line with a VIP wristband. Tickets are $5 and will go on sale Monday, April 22 and will be sold in downstairs H-Hall in front of the blackbox. Get yours before they sell out!

Yearbooks are $70.00. You may pick up your yearbook during lunch today in B154 (ROTC). You will need your student ID. If you are not sure if you purchased a book there is a list posted outside the activities office. You may purchase your book at lunch in B154.

ATTENTION ALL SENIOR GOVERNMENT AND ECONOMICS STUDENTS, THE LAST OPPORTUNITIES TO TAKE OR RETAKE THE UNIT SIX EXAM ARE TODAY AT LUNCH, AFTER SCHOOL, TOMORROW MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL, OR TOMORROW AT LUNCH IN E213. HOMEWORK IS DUE NO LATER THAN FRIDAY AT 2:25. YOUR GRADUATION DEPENDS ON IT.

Faculty/Staff and students, administrators will be coming by during 5th period this week and next to recognize students that received a 3.5 GPA or HIGHER for the 5th 6 week grading period.  Congratulations to all these students and the school challenges all of our students to end the school year strong.

All students and staff need to go to the Herff Jones website: teacherShoutOut.com, search for Volcano Vista, and vote for your favorite teacher. If we win the money will be given to the marquee fund.

COUNSELING

  • Summer School Registration will begin on May 1st, 2013 and be ongoing until May 22nd , 2013.  If you need to make up a class, make an appointment to see  your Academy Counselor for more information and transcript review.  They will review with you options to make up credits.
  • Sophomores and Juniors: The UNM Engineering Student Services department has an upcoming summer residential program called the Summer Transportation Institute (STI) taking place June 9th through 28th on the UNM main campus. It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation and is designed to introduce participants to various careers in the transportation industry while giving them a sneak preview of college life as they live on campus throughout the program.  The program is filled with workshops, hands-on projects, field trips and weekend activities. Applications for the program are still being taken up until May 17th.  See Mrs. Sandy in E224 for the application and further details.
  • Juniors and Seniors: Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham  is looking for interns to work at her district office in Downtown Albuquerque. An internship in a Congressional Office provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable work experience and insight into how our government works. The internship will be scheduled to follow the Summer 2013 and Fall 2013 Semesters. Please call 505-346-6781 for more information.

ATHLETICS

  • Tennis is in the APS Metro Championship tournament all week.

Today:

  • Baseball plays Cibola at 4 PM at VVHS.
  • Softball plays at Cibola at 4 PM
