[californiadisasters] Flash Flood Warning For Dam Failure - Tuolomne Co. (8/03/14-AM)



THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A    * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR A DAM FAILURE IN...    TUOLUMNE COUNTY IN CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...    * UNTIL 1045 PM PDT SUNDAY    * AT 1045 AM PDT...THE OPERATOR OF TWAIN HARTE DAM REPORTED CRACKS  BEING OBSERVED IN THE DAM WITH WATER FLOWING THROUGH THE CRACKS.  LOUD BOOMS ARE BEING HEARD NEAR THE RESERVOIR...SIGNALLING A  POTENTIAL FAILURE OF THE DAM.    * LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE SULLIVAN CREEK AND AREAS IMMEDIATELY  ADJACENT FROM SULLIVAN CREEK...INCLUDING PORTIONS OF BELLEVIEW. THE  RESERVOIR IS JUST DOWNSTREAM OF THE TOWN OF TWAIN HARTE...WHICH IS  NOT EXPECTED TO BE IMPACTED.    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...    A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLASH FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS  IMMINENT. MOST FLOOD RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT  ATTEMPT TO CROSS WATER COVERED BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER  CROSSINGS. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM... EVEN A SMALL ONE...  ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
