I agree with Kate.... "Earthquake" was the best earthquake movie to date, period.
Yes, it felt like half the movie was spent developing the characters and there was plenty of '70s schlock but that was how movies were made then and was unavoidable....
...and it gave us the unforgettable performance of Marjoe Gortner as the weirdo grocery clerk turned national guardsman, Sgt. Jody Joad, getting rapish with a young Victoria Principal.
The practical effects and modeling were first-rate and beat just about all the CGI effects used in movies like this new abomination.
