2007: A major heat wave struck the mountains and deserts from 7.2 to 7.6.
A strong persistent marine layer precluded the heat wave from impacting the coasts and valleys.
During this time the temperature reached 119° F in Ocotillo Wells, 116° F in Palm Springs and Indio, 115° F in Anza Borrego, 107° F in Julian, 103° F at Lake Cuyamaca, 100° F at Idyllwild, 97° F at Palomar Mountain, 94° F at Big Bear Lake (tied all time high) and Mt. Laguna.
Some heat illnesses occurred, but were poorly documented.

2001: Monsoonal moisture brought widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region.
The strongest storm occurred in Hesperia, where a downburst produced a wall of winds and dust that brought down trees, a radio tower and a satellite dish.
Tile roofing was also ripped from a home.
In San Diego, east winds pushed thunderstorms that developed in the mountains toward the coast, resulting in unseasonable light rain over parts of the metro.

1985:  A strong ridge of high pressure settled over the western U.S., bringing summer heat all the way to the coast of Southern California.
The heat wave started on 6/30,ended on 7/3 and broke numerous high temperature records.
On this day it was 118° F in Palm Springs, 110° F in San Bernardino and Redlands, 109° F in Riverside, 103° F in La Mesa, Escondido and Ramona, 98° F in Tustin, and 97° F in Laguna Beach and Miramar.

1975: The "Caesars Palace Flood" takes place after as much as 3" of rain swells washes throughout Las Vegas, NV.
The main damage occurred to vehicles at Caesars Palace with up to 700 damaged or destroyed
cars with several cars found miles away.
North Las Vegas was hardest hit with $3.5 million in damages.
Two persons drowned in the flood waters.

1937: The high temperature at Reno, NV, was 101° F.

1935: It was 54° F in Palm Springs, the lowest temperature on record for July.
This also occurred on 7.2.1979.

1925: Earliest measurable rain the "water season" (July-June) on record in Fresno with 0.14" logged.

1901: Santa Cruz had a low temperature of 36
° F.
