On This Date In California Weather History...

2000: A funnel cloud was observed in Phelan.

1994: Gusts to 80 mph were recorded at Mojave.

1985: A sinkhole that could be as large as 5 feet across dropped the bottom out of Baum Lake (Shasta Co.), sending water underground only to reappear later in a stream that feeds into Hat Creek.
That stream has more than quadrupled in size, though there is no estimate of the amount of water that has escaped since the sinkhole developed.

1981: A mountain wave generated powerful, localized winds at the Mojave Airport that gusted to 107 mph.
Damage occurred to six planes and hangers.

1956: A 64 mph wind gust occurred at China Lake NAS.

1943: The low temperature was 50° on this day in San Diego, the lowest on record for June.

1939: Fresno recorded sustained northwest winds of 47 mph, the highest on record in June in Fresno.

1917: It was 112° in Santa Ana, the highest temperature on record.

1907: Late season chill unleashed into the area led to record lows on 3 consecutive days in Fresno from the 13th-15th of June.
The low of 42 degrees on the 14th is the lowest reading ever here in this month.
