[californiadisasters] CA Mass Casualty Wildland FF Death Incidents



I have now completed creating automatic anniversary announcements for this group for all the wildland firefighter mass casualty incidents in California State History which are as follows:

1933 Griffith Park Fire ~ Los Angeles County (29 killed/29 WPA volunteer FF's along with 150 others burned, many critically)

1943 Hauser Creek Fire ~ San Diego County (11 dead/11 US Marine FF's along with over 70 others burned, many critically)

1953 Rattlesnake Fire ~ Glenn County/Mendocino NF (15 dead/1 USFS ranger & 14 volunteer FF's)

1956 Inaja Fire ~ San Diego County/Cleveland NF (11 dead/3 USFS, 1 CDC officer, and 7 CDC inmate firefighters)

1959 Decker Fire ~ Riverside County/Cleveland NF (7 dead/6 Calfire (CDF) & 1 USFS FF)

1966 Loop Fire ~ Los Angeles County/Angeles NF (12 dead/12 El Cariso Hotshots with the surviving 19 El Carisos critically burned)

1968 Canyon Fire ~ Los Angeles County/Angeles NF (8 dead/LACFD Crew 4-4 wiped out/1 crew foreman and 7 FF's)

1971 Romero Fire ~ Santa Barbara County/Los Padres NF (4 dead/3 USFS & 1 private dozer operator along with two other burn injures)

1977 Honda Fire ~ Santa Barbara County/Vandenberg AFB (4 dead/Base Commander, Base Fire Chief, Assistant Base Fire Chief, dozer operator along with 65 burn injuries)

1979 Spanish Ranch Fire ~ San Luis Obispo County (4 dead/CalFire (CDF) engine crew out of Nipomo wiped out)

1991 Tunnel Fire ~ Alameda County (25 dead/Oakland FD battalion chief & Oakland PD officer and 23 civilians)(not mass FF casualties but worthy of making the list)

2006 Esperanza Fire ~ Riverside County/San Bernardino NF (5 dead/USFS engine company 57 wiped out)
