They're usually only tropical storms with rain by the time they hit land. I think we've had only one hurricane make landfall in modern times, in the mid-1930s. It hit southern California really hard, My wife's father, who lived in Redlands at the time, remembered it washing a bulldozer down the Santa Ana River. Kim, you got anything on this?
