2002: A cold front generated strong winds across the Kern County deserts with Mojave clocking a 104 mph gust.
1988: 1.53" of rain fell in 24 hours in Death Valley, about three-quarters of the average annual rainfall.
Normal for the season is 2.33" (1971-2000 normal).
April average is only 0.12".
1978: The Padres' home game against the San Francisco Giants was rained out at (then) San Diego Stadium.
1970: The list-owner was born in Pasadena, CA, and thus began a walking, talking weather-loving disaster!
1966: Pismo Beach set a record monthly high of 98°.
