It's OK to call the ideas fringe I suppose, however back in the early 90's when I proposed that prior to quakes or certain mag and in certain areas, at split seconds to an arbitrary number of days, there was a set of radio pulses, by nature not by man, which came slightly prior to M and X class flares. This incoming energy not always was detectable by certain men and women who were very sensitive to their bodies. Working with Dr Jon Dobson, we started to work on the notion that humans at one time had magnetite in "nodes" near the head, but due to disuse they disappeared. Dobson did note that certain humans did have magnetite in unusual quantities and that it pooled near the adrenal gland. At a point in 1993 the Geophysical Union decided that I might be on to something. They put me in the hands of Alan Jones who tried working with me on the possibility of earthquake prediction. Alan was easy enough to work with, however the constraints put on me were something which I was unfamiliar with, hence any sort of "hit rate" went from 82% to 45% and Alan suggested I keep on studying on my own until I could refine in order to fit into his limitations. Unfortunately I moved well away from the MTJ which I had known as home for 20 some years. Interest waned and cynicism as well as skepticism took over so much that it made my re-entry into the field too hard considering my age....I did however find many people/amateurs interest in the sun/moon/earth connection with quakes. I still hear from those people to this day and am a long time subscriber to Dr Don's earth watch news. I also continue to seek any connections in a scientific way but have little time since my Guillain Barre paralyzed me. Kim, here on your group, I see many names or old friends. It is very interesting reading all of your compilations. Congratulations on a job well done. Some of our former members who were obsessed with fringe ideas and hammered away on them here in the past such as George "Geopilot" Watson and Theodore "Astro730" the Judicial Astrologer. This post by Lin over on Geology2 would seem to undermine this particular idea that both gentlemen brought up here in the 2000's. Caveat: this study will certainly not be the final word on this from the scientific community so we may yet find out the truth is otherwise but this is the scientific process.Kimmer
