French National Honor Society students: Remember, we are working pizza sales in A-hall this week. Be sure to show up on the days you signed up to work. If you don't remember when you signed up to work, the schedule is posted outside Mrs. Taylor's room.
Attention Faculty and Staff our last 6 week challenge for staff and students will be kick ball the week of April 29 May 3. To participate in the challenge, please sign up at the activities office this week at lunch. Kick ball teams must have 8-12 per team. The cost to register your team is $5. Meet on the soccer field on Monday, April 29 for seeding and games.
Math NHS will meet today at lunch in Ms. Conell's room, F103 to elect new officers for 2013/2014. We will also discuss our upcoming awards celebration. Junior and sophomore members should attend. Senior members do not need to attend.
Hawkword moments, Volcano Vista's first Literary Magazine is complete! It is $10 and will be sold in Ms. Montoya's room (H219) for $10. Artists who were published get a free copy. A list of published artists will be posted outside of Ms. Montoya's room.
Seniors! Please plan ahead and order your final transcript to your college of choice. If you do not send your final transcript your classes may be dropped for the fall semester at college. So don't wait request your transcript ASAP. All final transcripts are one dollar and please write final on your request. All request for transcripts and pick up are student only no parents are allowed to request or pick up final transcripts. Any questions please see Mrs. Ewing in the main office.
Open Mic Night is Friday, July 26th. Because of its popularity, Wright Club is having a special pre-sale for 100 tickets. In addition to getting a VIP customized Wright Club ticket, you will also get a free snack at the show, and you will be able to go to the front of the line with a VIP wristband. Tickets are $5 and will go on sale Monday, April 22 and will be sold in downstairs H-Hall in front of the blackbox. Get yours before they sell out!
Yearbooks are still on sale. Stop by the activities office during lunch to purchase your 2013 edition for $65.00. There will be no sales tomorrow. Seniors may pick up their books at the senior picnic Tuesday evening. Underclassmen you may pick up your books at lunch on Wednesday in the ROTC room. You must have your school ID to get your book.
Senior Picnic: The picnic begins at 4:30 PM on Tuesday in the A-hall concourse area. You t-shirt is your admittance.
Attention all Senior US Government, AP US Government, and Economics students... No make-up exams or late work will be accepted after Friday, April 26th at 2:25PM. This will include Unit 6 homework and exams, as well as any applicable classwork. Normal office hours will be held next week. Tuesday and Thursday before school and at lunch, and Wednesday at lunch and after school in E213. Friday before school and at lunch will also be available before school and at lunch in E203 and H209. Only current work will be accepted beginning Monday, April 29th. Plan accordingly.
Faculty/Staff and students, administrators will be coming by during 5th period this week and next to recognize students that received a 3.5 GPA or HIGHER for the 5th 6 week grading period. Also, administrators will be recognizing some students with an UpWard Bound Certificate. Teachers nominated students that showed significant improvement in their class since the start of the semester. Congratulations to all these students and the school challenges all of our students to end the school year strong.
All students and staff need to go to the Herff Jones website: teacherShoutOut.com, search for Volcano Vista, and vote for your favorite teacher. If we win the money will be given to the marquee fund.
COUNSELING

ATHLETICS
- Reminder JV Tennis: our final practice is the Wednesday April 24th. Followed by our banquet at Dions, contact Coach Good for details.
- Our boys track team has been competing well this year, and won their meet this past weekend by a solid effort all around... Senior Joe Searcy Ortega has qualified for the state meet in the 100m dash with a time of 10.71 and in the 200m dash with a time of 22.01, both of those times are ranked 3rd in 5A... Junior Mike Budick has qualified in all three throwing events, he is currently ranked 1st in shot put with a throw of 52 feet 4 1/2 inches, second in discus with a throw of 162 feet 1 inch, and third in javelin with a throw of 172 feet... both Mike and Joe now own school records in those events... Senior Derek Cravens also qualified for state in the javelin with a throw of 160 feet 4 inches, and is currently ranked 6th... All four of our relays have qualified as well with the help of Seniors: Sergio Alvarado, Joe Searcy-Ortega, Andres Molina, & Dorsett Valdez; Juniors: Robert Peele, & Brandon Madrid; and Freshmen Hayden Thomas, and Taran Robinson... Our JV team has their City Championship meet on Wednesday and Thursday this week at Wilson then Milne stadium... Good luck boys!
- Tennis is in the APS Metro Championship tournament all week.
