The senior picnic is on Tuesday, April 23rd. Please check the fine list and make sure all your fines are paid by May 3rd.
Yearbooks are still on sale. Stop by the activities office during lunch to purchase your 2013 edition for $65.00.
Math NHS members that have not paid their dues by the end of the school day Wednesday will not receive a membership certificate this year. If you have not paid please give your payment to either Ms. Conell or Mrs. Leger.
ACADEMIC DECATHLON: We will be meeting today after school in Mrs. Taylor's room to review our state competition results and receive our medals. See you there!
FRENCH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY: There will be a mandatory meeting on Thursday, 4/11, at lunch in E113 for all officers and new inductees. We will be discussing the induction ceremony and you will receive your induction invitations
All students and staff need to go to the Herff Jones website: teacherShoutOut.com, search for Volcano Vista, and vote for your favorite teacher. The teacher could win $2500 and the school could win $2500. You may vote once a day.
COUNSELING
- There are some great summer opportunities available! See Mrs. Sandy in room E224 if you are looking to build your college resume or are just looking to earn some extra money.
- Juniors: There will be a College Information Night on Thursday, April 11 at 6:00 pm in the PAC. Topics include financial aid, scholarships, grants, ACT/SAT and college deadlines.
- Seniors: There are several scholarships with a May 1st deadline. See Mrs. Sandy in room E224 for more information.
ATHLETICS
- The softball team will be having a Papa John's Pizza fundraiser on Thursday, April 11th. Is there any way we could get this information put on the school website and announced on the announcements? The softball team will get 20% of all sales for the entire day. People can either bring in the attached flier or mention VVHS Softball when calling in their order. The class that turns in the most fliers to Papa John's will receive a pizza party.
- First I want to thank you all for the opportunity to coach here at Volcano Vista, it is my pleasure, and I am very proud to be a part of this institution.
- Special congratulations are in order, in the history of New Mexico Wrestling there have only been four wrestlers to have ever reached the finals at the NHSCA Senior tournament. Our very own Lawrence Otero placed 2nd in the 132lb Senior division. He beat out state champs and runner-ups from all 50 states, to cement his legacy in the New Mexico record books. Congratulations Lolo!
