[californiadisasters] [EDIS] Flooding Possible In Southern Sierra Thru Tonight

WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE RAPID SNOWMELT IN THE  SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA. THE SNOWPACK REMAINS DEEP FOR LATE JUNE... AND RIVERS AND STREAMS WILL CONTINUE TO RUN HIGH AND SWIFT. A PACIFIC STORM WILL BRING COOLER TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION BEGINNING TUESDAY. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RATE OF SNOWMELT. RIVER LEVELS WILL BEGIN TO AT LEAST STABILIZE...IF NOT BEGIN A SLOW DECLINE...AFTER TONIGHT. HIGHEST FLOWS OF THE SPRING SNOWMELT SEASON ARE EXPECTED OR ARE NOW OCCURRING ABOVE ALL MAJOR RESERVOIRS.  THIS FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... BUT MAY NEED TO BE EXTENDED DEPENDING ON SNOWMELT RUNOFF AND RIVER CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. MARIPOSA MADERA AND FRESNO COUNTY FOOTHILLS- TULARE COUNTY FOOTHILLS- SIERRA NEVADA FROM YOSEMITE TO KINGS CANYON- TULARE COUNTY MOUNTAINS- ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR * PORTIONS OF CENTRAL CALIFORNIA...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...THE SOUTHERN SIERRA NEVADA ABOVE RESERVOIRS...FROM YOSEMITE PARK SOUTH TO THE KERN COUNTY LINE. * THROUGH LATE TONIGHT. * POTENTIAL FLOODING OF RIVERS AND STREAMS INCLUDES THE MERCED RIVER IN YOSEMITE PARK...THE SAN JOAQUIN RIVER ABOVE MILLERTON...THE KINGS RIVER ABOVE PINE FLAT...AND THE KAWEAH RIVER ABOVE TERMINUS DAM INCLUDING THREE RIVERS. * PAY ATTENTION TO LOCAL OFFICIALS. DO NOT ENTER AREAS THAT ARE FLOODED...OR STREAMS THAT ARE CLOSED TO BOATING AND RAFTING. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Instruction:
THE VERY COLD WATER THIS TIME OF YEAR CAN BE DANGEROUS WHEN RUNNING FAST AND DEEP. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT IN THE WATER FOR ANY  LENGTH OF TIME UNPROTECTED... HYPOTHERMIA IS A DEADLY POSSIBILITY. A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLOODING. FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED. REMEMBER...THE HIGHEST RIVER FLOWS GENERALLY OCCUR DURING THE LATE EVENING AND EARLY MORNING HOURS...USUALLY WITHIN AN HOUR OR  TWO EITHER SIDE OF MIDNIGHT. A CAMPGROUND OR TRAIL MAY BE DRY AND APPEAR SAFE DURING THE AFTERNOON...BUT CAN QUICKLY TAKE ON WATER AT NIGHT. BOATERS ON AREA LAKES SHOULD BE ALERT TO FLOATING DEBRIS...SUCH AS BRANCHES AND LOGS...THAT HAVE WASHED INTO THE LAKES FROM HIGH WATERS UPSTREAM.
