Honestly, except for the human loss of life, the Exxon Valdez FUBAR was a greater disaster. There is still residue from that and the sea critters haven’t quite returned in strength. Turn over some rocks, you find oil/sludge. And the sea otters, on their way back from hunted extinction, are now suffering from a strange disease that affects their brains (no not zombie-ism). Once afflicted, it’s 100% fatal.

PS Girdwood is now known for skiing and the daily bore tide (the only wave you can surf in town). But sadly, it is infected with yuppies. I did shop at one store called “The Tourist Trap” because it seemed an honest name. ;-)
