2008: Carmel Valley reported a high temperature of 106° F.
1983: Severe controlled flooding along the Colorado River below the Hoover Dam affected numerous communities, including Parker, AZ, and Yuma, AZ.
Hundreds of homes, mobile homes, trailers, motels, and businesses were under 1 to 6 feet of water. Altogether, 700 to 800 people had to evacuate their residences.
The President declared Yuma, La Paz, and Mohave Counties a disaster area less than 2 weeks later.
1961: It was 92° F in Big Bear Lake, the highest temperature on record for June.
1929: San Luis Obispo set an all-time June high of 108° F.
1920: The Santa Fe Rail Deport recorded a high temperature of 113° F in Bakersfield.
This still stands as the record high for the day.

Spanish Springs High School suffered over $500,000 damage.
