Breezy and relatively cool weather can be expected through Friday.  Wind gusts to 50 mph can be expected in the highest elevations of the Sierras and Inyo N.F. the next two days.  It will also be breezy in and near the desert and in Santa Barbara County.  Much hotter and drier weather will develop this weekend.  By Monday, widespread 100+ degree readings will cover the area.  Valley highs may be close to 115 with RH in the single digits. Local north winds may also develop Sunday and Monday.  Slightly cooler weather may develop toward the end of next week.

Highs this afternoon will be in the 70s to mid-80s in the valleys, 80s to low 90s in the San Joaquin Valley, and in the 60s to low 70s in the mountains, except mid-50s to mid-60s in the Sierra. Winds will be variable 5 to 15 mph except westerly 10 to 20 mph across the Kern County Mountains, the Antelope Valley, and the Banning Pass.
