On this day it was 110° in Santa Ana, the highest temperature on record for July and the fourth hottest day on record.
It was also 101° in Lompoc, setting a record high temperature for July.
1950: 109°at Fresno, day 3 of 11 day streak of 100° or better.
Farmers nearby had "worst burning of grapes in past 40 years" even though heat was not that unusual for this time of year.
