What happens when lava engulfs a can of Coca Cola

This video shows what happens when a can of Coca Cola is engulfed by a lava flow - something you may never have asked yourself but will want to find out

Have you ever wondered what would happen to a can of soft drink when it is hit by lava from a volcano? No, neither had we until seeing someone had posted this video.

Here two cans of Coca Cola are placed in the path of an advancing 2000 degree F lava flow in Hawaii. The first had a hole punched in the top to stop it from exploding while the second was still sealed.

The cans are gradually absorbed by the oozing flow and the cans eventually melted completely, according to Brian Lowry, who braved the heat to film the sequence.
