A special thank you to the 45 members of Wing Squad who volunteered their Saturday to clean up our campus. You guys are AWESOME and your school appreciates your efforts!
Congratulations to all 500 students that received a 3.5 GPA or higher for the fall semester. Administrators will be coming around this week to recognize you in front of your 5th period classes. On Friday, we will have a special ceremony and surprise for you in the main gym at the end of 7th period. Please hang onto your certificate that will be your pass to get out of class and into the gym. Great job Hawks and we encourage everyone to strive for the best grades possible.
Seniors! Please verify your spelling of your name for your diploma in upstairs E Hall. Any corrections please see Mrs. Ewing in the Main office. Deadline is Wednesday.
Winterball tickets are on sale Wednesday for $15.00 in the Activities Office during lunch. You must have your current student ID to purchase a ticket. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend Volcano Vista please have the completed permission slip with you when you purchase your tickets. Each student is limited to one ticket and one guest. Ticket prices will increase to $20.00 on February 4th. $1.00 of each ticket will go to Make-a-Wish.
Buy a Make-a-Wish star from any senate member or from the activities office.
Wing Squad: New members must pay the $5 membership and t shirt fee to Mr. Brown in room F111 no later than this Friday.
MESA members: just a reminder that we will be meeting Wednesday at lunch in G-203. We will be taking role for Wednesday's rally with Tony Hillerman Middle School...see you there.
Youth and Government: Want to travel up to Santa Fe? Interested in Politics, Government, History, Philosophy, Science or anything? Come join Youth in Government, a club that takes you up to Santa Fe for 3 days in April for a Mock Congress session. You can choose to be a legislator, writing a bill, an attorney defending your case, or be a part of the media crew. There are so many opportunities, so come and join us Tuesday at lunch in Mr. Riggs's room in A-Hall.
Students watch the TV's in the hallways at lunch all this week to get information about what electives to take next year
The BSU will hold "STEP" practice after school on Tuesday and Wednesday. Practice will be held by room A113 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. New members are invited to stop by and check it out.
Wright Club will begin designing Hawkword Moments, Volcano's literary magazine, soon. Please make your submissions to H219 as soon as possible. Please limit 4 per person. The deadline is February 3rd, so it's time to get creative.
Attention Hawks, if you are thinking about taking a business class and joining DECA, but still have a few questions, please find us at our table in the A - Hall during the electives fair. We will also be available after school in H-111. Come find out more and join the fun!
COUNSELING:
An admissions officer from UTAH STATE will be here on Friday, Jan. 31, during lunch. She will meet with students in the Career Center, Rm. E224.
ATHLETICS:
There will be a mandatory Golf Team meeting today at lunch in Coach Cota's room A-204. Current Golf Team members must attend. If you are not on the team and you want to tryout for the Golf Team this spring season, you must attend this meeting. See Coach Cota in room A-204 for more information.
There will be a volleyball meeting on Thursday January 30th in the 9th grade academy. Any athlete interested in playing or being a manager should attend. Bring your registration cards!!!!
All student-athletes interested in joining the track and field team this year need to make sure they have a physical on file with the school by February 11th. Also, all sprinters, jumpers, throwers, and distance runners, there will be one hour of pre-season practice Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the next two weeks. Please plan on attending so you can get into the flow of things. See you out there!
G. Basketball plays Sandia tonight at 7 in the Ring of Fire.
B. Basketball plays at Eldorado on Wednesday and at home on Friday against Hobbs.
Swim this Saturday at West Mesa.
Wrestling will be in the Metro Championship this Friday and Saturday at Eldorado
We will be on a long advisory schedule tomorrow. Everyone is to report to his or her advisory. Senior's go to your advisory and then come down to the gym with your teacher to get the Senior Panoramic picture taken for the yearbook. When you enter the gym you will need to line up according to height. If you wish to purchase one they are $19.00; you can pick up an order form in the activities office.
