Update: With mandatory evacuations in place, the fire has burned 1,200-acres and remains at 5% containment.
PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. - As of 7:45 p.m., September 5, the 1,200-acre wildfire remains at 5% containment.
Plumas Sheriff's Office said high winds throughout the county are causing the Walker Fire to spread rapidly. This is in the area of Red Clover Valley, south of Flournoy Bridge near Genesee Road.
U.S. Forest Service for the Plumas National Forest said they are fighting the flames from air and ground with more resources coming in.
EVACUATIONS
Those who need accommodations and assistance are being asked to go to the Quincy area and contact the Plumas County Sheriff's Office.

Lighting is hitting the eastern portion of the county and the Forest Service said the area is being monitored for fires starts.
The Sheriff's Office has also seen periods of lightning in the same area throughout the day.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Editors note: it was previously reported that the fire was 950 acres, Inciweb has stated the Walker Fire is 850 acres as of 10:18 a.m.
