09/10/2010 | 0708 | Initial Attack Activity was light in the GACC yesterday with 15 fires for 8 acres. There are currently 2 large fires burning in the GACC: The GACC is also supporting an incident in San Mateo County: Fuels are dry throughout the region. 1000 hour fuels are measured below 15 percent. Live fuel moistures are measured between 70 and 125 percent. The strong low pressure system that dropped widespread light rain across the region, with isolated spots of 0.50 – 1.50 inches, is quickly moving east and will be replaced by high pressure that will be overhead through Saturday. Dry and warmer weather can be expected during this time, with only locally gusty a.m. winds in and near the Sacramento Valley. On Sunday an offshore low pressure system will begin to deepen and produce an increasing S-SW flow along with mild conditions over the North Ops region that will continue through much of next week. |
