9/17/2010 | 0704 | Initial Attack Activity was light in the GACC yesterday with 11 fires for 5 acres. There are 2 small fires being managed to achieve multiple objectives. Prescribed burning has begun in the GACC. There are currently no large fires burning in the GACC; NOPS continues to support large incidents in South Ops and Nevada. Fuels are dry throughout the region. 1000 hour fuels are measured below 15 percent. Live fuel moistures are measured between 70 and 150 percent. A disturbance will bring a larger area of rain in to near a Fort Bragg- Whiskeytown- Klamath Falls line on Friday. Finally, the wettest system in the series will spread rain over at least two thirds of North Ops Saturday, with showers lingering into Sunday morning – mainly in eastern areas. Friday will be the only day that sees a portion of the Geographic Area fairly windy while still in the drier airmass – and that will be primarily in or near the south half of the Eastside PSA. Look for a significant cooling trend to start in the western areas Friday, reaching eastern areas on the weekend. |
