[californiadisasters] Redding-Area Wildfire Destroys Home

Fire contained after destroying home in Jones Valley area

A vegetation fire spread to a home in Jones Valley this morning, destroying the building before being contained.

The two-acre fire was reported just before 9:40 a.m. today. It destroyed a 2,000 square-foot home and spread to both sides of of the road on Juniper Avenue, which is just off Lake Shasta, about a half hour drive northeast of Redding.

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. crews were called to the area for downed power lines./p>

No injuries were reported.
