only going by what they are reporting, fire is spotting on the south flank an north flank,last report 160 acres.  structures 1 mile and a 1/2 away.

I do not know for a fact that is what they're doing and I doubt anybody can fairly judge this without being there in person and eyeballing the situation unless you are reading Tweets from FF's on the line expressing such concerns.

we are chasing this fire in the wilderness because? We are going to put hand crews into a fire that is backing down into a drainage because ? Why are we not just hitting the fire with air support because?? Someone is not thinking! Never put crews on a fire that is backing down into a drainage , by afternoon the fire will be running up the drainage and can also spot to other sides from preheating!!

We've had a light to moderate air flow from the north the last couple days, which will affect the fire too.

IA and extended attack failed tonight due to inaccessibility so on the scanner recently was talk of IA engines being cancelled I assume due to inaccessibility. Lots of talk about shuttling crews from Vina helibase in the morning. Mentions of Day shift for tomorrow, agency rep talk, talk of hand crew line up with Salt Creek Crew 5 and Ishi Crew 3 on scene with Ishi Crew 1 and Salt Creek Crew 3 en route in the morning. Air Attack 340 out of Paso Robles Air Attack base to be en route at 0700 this day and two tankers from South Ops are available at present. IC from distant vantage point calling it 50-100 acres with some torching but generally it is laying down now. Nobody actually on scene yet at fire's edge.

There is an oddball wildfire raging in the Ishi Wilderness right now at night in the wee hours of January 3rd and there isn't even a Diablo Wind event going on.
The fire has consumed over 100 acres and apparently really going good at present.
