Swarm of earthquakes shake Blanco Fracture Zone off Oregon coast

Nine earthquakes, ranging in magnitudes of 3.2-5.4, rumbled near the Blanco Fracture Zone off the Oregon coast Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

A swarm of eight happened between 5:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., the US Geological Service's website said.

The three largest quakes, measuring between 5.0-5..4 magnitude, started the swarm in about a 20-minute span.

The quake closest to the coast wasn't part of the swarm and happened around 3 p.m. Friday. It measured a 3.2 magnitude and was about 180 miles off the coast.

A screenshot from the U.S. Geological Service website shows all nine earthquakes that were measured off the Oregon coast Friday and Saturday. The red lines represent faults.
