[CaliforniaDisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (October 8)

1996: Edwards AFB had a high of 100° F.
This is the latest in the year a triple digit high temperature has occurred here.

1973: Palo Alto received 1.1" of rain.

1961: An early season storm brought thunderstorms to the San Diego Coast. The storms produced gusty winds, small hail, and at least ten reported water spouts between Del Mar and Oceanside.
One waterspout moved onshore in Carlsbad to become a tornado, injuring 3 people when it threw a board through the window.
Roofs were ripped off, trees felled and fences downed in Carlsbad and Oceanside.
Boats were torn from moorings in Oceanside.
Damage was incurred at the Carlsbad SDG&E electric generator plant.

1949: 2.5" of snow fell in Idyllwild and 2" fell in Palomar Mountain.
Each snowfall is the earliest measurable snowfall for the season on record.
A stretch of 140 days without precipitation finally ended in Campo, when 0.02" of rain fell.

1889: Fresno received 0.03" of rain on this date.
The monthly total that October was 3.17" making it the second wettest October on record here with rain falling on 11 days.
Ten days had measurable amounts, a record for the month of October.
