1993 California Fire Anniversary

Description:
Powerful Santa Ana Winds drove the California Fire, started by downed powerlines, across 25,100 acres in the Winchester and French Valley areas of southwest Riverside County damaging or destroying 107 homes. Three firefighters and four residents received minor injuries. At one point, the Incident Command Post for this incident had to be evacuated as flames bore down on it. This was one of 13 different wildfires in the October 1993 Fire Siege which broke out mostly on this date all driven by Santa Ana Winds and collectively burned over 70,000 acres and destroyed over 1,000 homes.
