Re: [CaliforniaDisasters] Thief Fire/Kern co (Stallion Springs)

NO, thank you! Generators can be great things but they can also be dangerous as well if not properly maintained or utilized.

Just wanted to throw this out there--although I believe they now have it under control. It broke out yesterday in Staillion springs as a house fire, and quickly spread to vegetation in the high winds...threatening another home (they saved it) and causing the evactuaion a dozens of other houses in the area.

The cause was: a generator

We have a lot of people in California who are rushing out to buy generators who don't really know how to run them safely or maintain them properly. Our community (Bear Valley Springs) brought in experts to give a talk about Generators, different types--and most importantly, safety. We also have people who are lighting up the old fire place that hasn't been cleaned or inspected in years, just to keep warm in these PSPS events.

Just wanted to toss out that service announcement and warnings! I know the people here are probably very good about such thing. It's the average joe next door we all need to keep an eye on, or sometimes pull aside and have a safety talk with :)
