[californiadisasters] On This Date In California Weather History (June 19)



2016: An intense heat wave began on this day.
The afternoon high in Palm Springs hit119°, while Riverside reached 111° F. Near Potrero the Border Fire started and spread rapidly under hot and dry conditions, consuming 7,609 acres before it was contained on June 30th. Two local residents were killed when the fire overtook their property and 16 structures were destroyed.

2005: Low temperatures fell into the lower 50s at the coast and into the 40s in the valleys (San Diego Co.) on this day, remarkably very cold for one of the shortest nightsof the year.

1982: Bishop recorded 0.68" of rain which was the greatest one day total in June.

1951:
An afternoon thunderstorm produced a lightning display in Fresno described as "one of the most vivid electrical displays that has occurred in this area for many years".
A number of power lines, transformers and pumping motors were struck.

1909: 4" of snow fell at Glenbrook, NV (east shore Lake Tahoe), its latest occurrence of over 1" of snowfall.

1893: San Jose reported a low temperature of 33° F.
