2015: A landspout tornado was observed in Phelan.

2011:
Strong thunderstorms brought heavy rain to the San Joaquin Valley, mainly north of Kern County, during the evening and late night hours of June 5th, due to a deep upper level low moving over interior central California.
Significant snow began falling late at night over the southern Sierra Nevada at around elevation
7,000 feet and above.

1995:
A late season cold front generated high winds that toppled trees and caused minor structural damage in southern Nevada.
Peak wind gusts included 72 mph on the Las Vegas Strip and 71 mph in Tonopah.
In Northern Nevadea, near Silver Springs, Nevada (in Lyon County a short distance east of Reno) a tornado caused $60,000 in property damage.
The tornado destroyed one mobile home and damaged three others.
At least 12 other homes were damaged.
In addition, several trees were uprooted and power lines and fences were blown down.

1993: An F0 tornado touched down in South Fresno.
This is also one of only two days in June that Fresno has received more than an inch of rain with 1.3" having fallen. (other is June 6, 1998 when 1.88" of rain fell).
This same storm system brought 13" of snow to Lodgepole, the biggest snowfall on record here in June.

1993: A strong, late season spring storm moved into California.
Lake Gregory was deluged with 3.24" of rain.
1.26" of precipitation fell in Santa Ana, 0.91" fell in Riverside, 0.85" in Big Bear Lake and 0.76" fell in LA, each the greatest daily amount on record for June.

1987: Rare June thunderstorms hit the LA region and Mojave Desert on this day and on 6.6.
A severe thunderstorm hit Palmdale and Lancaster.
1" diameter hail hit Mt. Pinos in northern LA County, 0.75 inch hail hit Palmdale, 0.5 inch hail hit Pine Mountain near the LA-Kern county line.
Lightning struck the Santa Monica Bay.
Power was knocked out. Lightning sparked small fires.
In Lancaster, mobile homes were damaged by strong winds (possible tornado?) and lightning.
Two-by-fours were driven into the roofs of mobile homes.
Utility poles were uprooted and broken in half. More than 500,000 were left without power.

1977: The high temperature at Susanville was 100° F.

1972: The Padres' home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates was rained out at (then) San Diego Stadium.
This also occurred the next day on 6.6.1972.

1962: Ben Lomond reported a low temperature of 34° F.

1962: It was 40° F overnight at Pismo Beach, a record low for the month.

1942: The high temperature at Portola was 102° F.

1934: Bakersfield received 0.11" of rain.
This raised the water season total to 2.21", however, it was still the driest water season on record here.

1934: 0.38" fell in 24 hours in San Diego, starting on this day (0.09") and ending on 6.6 (0.29"), the greatest 24-hour amount on record for June.

1894: Coldest high ever in Fresno in June, 57° F overnight.

Interesting WX factoid: No precip has ever been recorded on this date in Yuma, AZ.
