2013: A long period southerly swell arrived at local beaches, producing large surf along the Orange County Coast.
Surf heights at the Wedge reached 10-15 ft, with 6-10 ft sets at Huntington Beach.
Elsewhere along the coast 5-8 ft surf occurred.

1998: Glenbrook, NV (east shore Lake Tahoe) recorded 1.25" of rain.

1990: Gusty winds up to 90 mph blew across the Kern County desert resulting in blowing dust and sand throughout the day with visibility near zero in many instances.

1973: King City reported a high temperature of 103° F.

1972: Thunderstorms struck the Barstow and Helendale area with about a 0.5" of rainfall in a short time.
Several structures and many streets and yards were inundated with water and debris.

1972: A thunderstorm dropped 1.09" at Meadows Field in 45 minutes making it the wettest day ever in June in Bakersfield.
The thunderstorm produced wind gusts to 50 mph, washed out sections of Highway 178, and damaged automobiles and buildings.
One person was killed.
There was one report of 3.5" of rain in an hour in one part of the city.

1964: A severe thunderstorm struck Las Vegas and Lake Mead.
A tornado moved across open areas of the Las Vegas Valley.
Buildings and signs in Las Vegas, NV, damaged by thunderstorm winds up to 100 mph, with sustained winds of 85 mph measured at what is now the North Las Vegas Airport.
Waters on Lake Mead were reported to be 10 feet high and the rough water capsized boats and tore up docks.

1964: China Lake NAS clocked a 63 mph wind gust from the northwest.

1816:  The -Year Without a Summer- in the northeastern U.S. began with snowfall in Vermont and Massachusetts. The relatively cold conditions were caused by volcanic ash in the atmosphere which resulted from the eruption of Mt. Tambora the previous year.
