CA-ENF Caples Fire: 3,275 acres timber, 55% contained. A small amount of precipitation was received on the fire area. Fire behavior today was moderate with backing, flanking and creeping observed. Major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts are possible to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area. Private property and federal old growth timber remain threatened.

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 3,200 acres timber, 48% contained. Fire behavior last night was minimal with backing, creeping and smoldering observed. Major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts are possible to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area. Private property and federal old growth timber remain threatened.

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 3,200 acres timber, 48% contained. Today fire behavior was moderate with backing, flanking and short-range-spotting observed. Strong Southwest winds surfaced today in lower elevations near Caples Creek. Major municipal watershed remain threatened. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area. Private property and federal old growth timber remain threatened.

10/16/2019 0830 CA-ENF Caples Fire: 3,100 acres timber, 48% contained. Overnight fire behavior was minimal with backing, creeping and smoldering observed. Major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts are possible to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area. The decrease in fire size is due to more accurate mapping.

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 3,183 acres timber, 53% contained. Today fire behavior was moderate with flanking, backing and single tree torching. Private timberlands and major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts are possible to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area.

10/14/2019 1822 CA-NOD Horse Fire: 55 acres grass and brush, 100% contained. This will the last report unless significant change occurs.
10/14/2019 1822 CA-ENF Caples Fire: 3,133 acres timber, 46% contained. Daytime fire behavior was active with flanking, backing and single tree torching. Structures in the area remain threatened. Private timberlands and major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts are possible to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area.
10/14/2019 1111 CA-NOD Horse Fire: 55 acres grass and brush, 75% contained. Forward spread has been stopped.
10/14/2019 0700 CA-NOD Horse Fire: 30 acres grass and brush, 75% contained. Forward spread has been stopped. The decrease in fire size is due to more accurate mapping.
10/13/2019 1800 CA-ENF Caples Fire: 3,042 acres timber, 42% contained. Daytime fire behavior was active with flanking, backing and some issues due to rolling materials. Structures in the area remain threatened. Private timberlands and major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts are possible to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area.
10/13/2019 1550 CA-NOD Horse Fire: 75 acres grass and brush, 30% contained. Crews are making good progress. Forward spread has been stopped.
10/13/2019 1513 CA-NOD Horse Fire: 75 acres grass and brush, 0% contained. Crews are making good progress. No immediate threats reported in the area. Forward spread stopped on the second 2 acre fire in the area.

CA-NOD Horse Fire: 50 acres grass and brush, 0% contained. Fire is located near Shaffer Mountain in Lassen County. Moderate rate of spread. There is a second fire in the area that has burned 2 acres. Map

Private timberlands and major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas are possible. Road, trail and area closures remain in effect in the area.

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 2,766 acres timber, 25% contained. Fire behavior was minimal last night with backing creeping and smoldering observed. Structures are threatened. Private timberlands and major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas are possible. Road and area closures remain in effect in the area.

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 2500 acres timber, 25% contained.  Fire behavior moderated today with decreased winds. Uphill runs, flanking and backing fire was observed. Structures are threatened. Private timberlands and major municipal watershed remain threatened. Smoke impacts to Highway 88, the Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas are possible. Road and area closures remain in effect in the area.

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 2143 acres timber, 20% contained. Extreme fire behavior with wind driven runs, torching and spotting has been observed. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 1000 this morning for the fire area. There is a threat to structures on remote ranches in the area. Private timberlands, major municipal watershed, historical sites and critical wildlife habitat are also threatened. Smoke impacts to the Sacramento Valley and Lake Tahoe areas are possible. Road, trail and area closures are in effect in the fire area.

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 2143 acres timber, 20% contained. Extreme fire behavior with short range spotting has been observed. There is a threat to structures on remote ranches in the area. Private timberlands, major municipal watershed, historical sites and critical wildlife habitat are also threatened. Smoke impacts to the Sacramento Valley and Lake Tahoe areas are possible. Road closures are in effect to forest system roads.

10/10/2019 1700 The National Weather Service - The National Weather Service has issued numerous Red Flag Warnings for several Fire Weather Zones in the North Ops Region thru Friday morning. These Red Flag Warnings are for gusty winds and low humidity. Please check the link for affected areas Link

CA-ENF Caples Fire: 2000 acres Timber, 30% contained. Fire is located 4 miles Northwest of Kirkwood in the area of Caples Creek. Fire is burning with a moderate rate of spread. Private timberlands, old growth timber and a historic cattle ranch are threatened. Map
