Description: The Marek Fire started in the foothills above San Fernando on this morning and driven by fierce Santa Ana Winds ran across 4,824 acres over the course of which it also destroyed 40 homes, damaged 9 others, destroyed 2 commercial structures, damaged one other, and killed a man and his dog. The fire cost $4 million to fight.
